Steering Wheel Nubs
Have a 31 roadster delux. Down here at the Hershey PA AACA swap meet and looking for a nice original 31 steering wheel. Now noticing some claiming to be for 31 have three numbs in the inner ring (for light switch positions) and some have three numbs that alternate with three indents. Can’t remember what mine had and the photo I brought doesn’t show that detail. I cannot find clarification on the net about the indents. A really nice original I spotted here just has the numbs. Anyone know which is right? Thanks as always.

Re: Steering Wheel Nubs
I am unclear of the question, but On my 31 roadster I do not have any "numbs" in the inner ring, or indents.
The 3 indents are done with the spider at the bottom of the steering column. |

Re: Steering Wheel Nubs
I am guessing that you are talking about the light switch lever fit into the steering wheel. The steering wheels for 1930 & 31 are the same. There are no nubs for the light switch positions. The light switch fits into a hole in the center of the steering wheel. The lever positions are detented inside of the switch at the bottom of the steering column.

Re: Steering Wheel Nubs
Just bought an original 30/31 steering wheel to use for a repair seminar. This one has two keyways for adjustment on the column, where the light switch tube slides at the top into the steering wheel there are four equally spaced raised nubs, (round rivet heads?) and four equally spaced indents. I'm thinking these eight items are just part of the casting process and nothing to do with the light switch position. The switch on the end of the column has the raised detents for lighting position. Just my thoughts.

Re: Steering Wheel Nubs
Thanks for the replies. I was misinformed about the numbs and the light switch interaction. But Still not sure why some Model A steering wheel center hubs are flush, some have rivets (nubs) and some also have indents. Oh well.
