Default Saving ebay pictures to your computor

This is probably common knowledge to most of you, as almost everyone I know is better with computors than I am. About a year ago I started saving some pictures of things for sale on ebay. I simply wanted to save some pictures for future reference, but when I right clicked on the picture "save picture as...." would not show up. I clicked on "enlarge picture" and then I could right click and save it to my computor. Many pictures do not enlarge even though you click on "enlarge picture" but at least you can still save it for reference.

I have not tried this with ebay, but you can try saving the entire page.

This will make a folder that will include the pictures.

Here's an ugly way, if all else fails:

1. Hold down the ALT key and press the 'Print Screen' key.
2. Open MS Paint (free accessory with Windows)
3. Press Ctrl+V to paste
4. Click the 'Selection' toolbar icon
5. Select the photo to copy
6. Press Ctrl+C to copy
7. Choose File, New
8. Click 'No' (don't save changes)
9. Press Ctrl+V to paste
10. Choose File, Save As...

Tom, being 26 years old I have been around computers all my life.... When you enlarge the picture you should be able to right click and hit "Save Picture As"...Everyone I have tried I can do this with.... which makes me wonder, maybe you have to update your browser or it could be that some sites are a companied site and they won't allow you to save them for copywrite purposes..... what system are you running?

If you are using FireFox, you Enlarge the image

Then right click on enlarged image and select "View Image Info"

There is a media tab on that screen and an option to save the image.

Thanks for this! I didn't know there was a save image option in the tab. I do now.

For other cases when website coding seems to prevent or disable copying (for my own personal use) I use this great freebie:

Windows 7 Home Edition has a program called Snipping Tool. You click on start, a menu pops up, look for snipping tool, click on it, follow instructions. You put the curser where you want to start to save the picture, outline what you want, go to file and save. It automatically saves to a file named capture, but if you want to you can rename it and save it to your desktop or a folder of your choice.

It's always better to enlarge the picture before trying to save it. A lot of times, the thumbnails are not very good resolution, and when you try to look at them later, they are real grainey.

PS: my avitar picture was copied off eBay before I bought the truck.

Afordman31, I use the snipping tool all the time. It's very helpful when you need to steal pictures off of a flash website, too! Such as Nissan's website with protected pictures...

Some pages have the "save as" option disabled (probably copyright issues)

As AFordman31 suggested though, the snipping tool under the newer versions of windows allows you to extract whatever portion of the webpage you want to capture.

My computor is an ASUS with Vista Home Premium and I use IE. As I said, I can easily save the pictures from ebay once I click on "enlarge picture", but I have been to some sites where I can't save the pictures.

Thanks for the tip on the "snipping tool", that should come in handy.

You are all welcome.
I forgot to mention that when you have the picture that you want to snip you need to get to the snipping tool. On your keyboard between the function button and the alt button is one that is the Microsoft logo. Click on that one and a menu pops up and then you can left click on the snipping tool. Sorry I forgot that.

For Mac users:

Open Grab, located in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.

Choose Capture > Selection.
Move the pointer to a corner of the area you want to capture.
Drag the pointer across the area and release the mouse button.
Grab captures the part you selected within a few seconds. A new window appears with the image of the selected area.
