30/31 Roadster Sub Rail Dimensions
Hi guys,
I'm looking for sub rail dimensions for a 30/31 roadster. The rails are reproduction and have no holes, and the car is in pieces. I need to get this thing together and want to start with square rails! Any info would help, Thanks. Ryan |

Re: 30/31 Roadster Sub Rail Dimensions
Dale(eeyore) and I are going through this search for info on the 28/9 roadster subrails and other things. Seems like no one is willing to share information. Had a few good replies to Dales thread on lower quarters, but it seems tough to get guys to give up pictures or what info they have.
On your roadster, do you have the rear body crossmember part of the subframe? |

Re: 30/31 Roadster Sub Rail Dimensions
I am building a 29 type roadster body from parts I've collected plus the Brookville parts where I have to. All I can suggest is to start piecing it to align it with a good straight Model A frame & new body blocks. I'm fortunate in the fact that I also have a coupe body to do some of the sub-frame comparison. I'll be using screw fasteners to start with and rivets to follow after everything is fitted & aligned. I have enough key pieces to locate a few original holes but the rest will have to be drilled to the frame holes and by guess work/comparison. I figure if I get something off fit, I'll likely know it by the time I get most of it together and I can weld it up & re-drill as required.
Also, if you haven't already, check out Vince Falter's site. He has excellent drawings of a 30 coupe body disassembly/reassembly under Body Details~Model A. www.fordgarage.com. Kerby |

Re: 30/31 Roadster Sub Rail Dimensions
I also used info from here
http://public.fotki.com/dcfletcher/a...model-a-scans/ and here http://www.wescottsauto.com/Tech/frame_specs.html#howto I seem to recall that some of the Wescott dims are not accurate but the have helped me in the re-assembly of my 30 deluxe roadster. My roadster is in winter storage so I can't get them real easy but if there is a critical dimension you are looking for PM me and I can try to get it for you. |

Re: 30/31 Roadster Sub Rail Dimensions
The rear most body crossmember should have 2 integral brackets on each side to attach it to the sides of the subframe - I think they were originally riveted together. Maybe post a picture of your cross piece so we can tell if it's all there as should be.

Re: 30/31 Roadster Sub Rail Dimensions
I've posted a picture of my cross bar in the model A section under, if somebody could let me know what brackets I am missing on the ends that would be great.
