Good morning Barners,

Ok, one of the main reasons I removed the oil pan on my 47 (besides to replace the gaskets), was because the threads in the boss where the by-pass filter return line screws in are stripped.

I know that Bob Drake is the main source for them, but they are back ordered and apparently they must be looking for someone else to reproduce them at this time.

I've called everyone else who listed them but to no luck because no one has any.

So, short of cutting new larger threads in mine, I was wondering what anyone else has done in the past that may have ran into this problem.

Have you tried Joblot in NY, they may have NOS originals

Hello Kurt,

Yeah, I called them this morning, and they have none either. Seems that they all (Dennis Carpenter, Joblot, C&G, etc.), all get them from Bob Drake and non of the vendors have any.

There are other options for attaching the oil filter return line. Some oil pans had a separate threaded female fitting attached to the side of the bulk head. There were also through drilled and threaded bolts at the fuel pump stand used for the return.
If you can't find a dip stick fitting with the return oil line, I have a new or possibly a good used one in my stash of stuff.

Hello Kevin. Here are a couple more recommendations to check:Baxter Ford Parts (785) 842-9256 and Little Dearborn Ford Parts (612) 331-2066. Both are very nice folks to deal with. Hope you find the part. Steve

Since the oil pan is off, you could mig weld the drain hole up solid and drill and tap new threads.

Found one in my stash. Threads for tube and fitting are good. Do you have the brass fitting?

No, I don't have the brass fitting. Someone in the past has about a 2" long hex looking fitting that threads into the boss, then the oil line threads into it.
