Default motor mounts for a 37 pickup

My 37 pickup came with a 1940 flathead installed in it. It had the stock rubber biscuit motor mounts. I see where many older frames need the u shaped after market spacers to install a later motor. What years need the additional spacers for clearance?

1949-1953 motors using the truck or Mercury Water pumps. Your '40 motor should not need the spacers.

The '49-53 8BA/8CM engines need the '49-50 Merc spacers to allow for the shorter ears on the truck/Merc pumps. The U adapter corrects the bolt off-set.. **This viable only applies to the '48 and earlier vehicles. Any '32-48 V8 engine is a direct swap, with some limitations, such as exhaust manifold clearances, oil pans, etc., into any '48 and earlier vehicle.

You also use some kind of offset spacer on earlier stuff when swapping engines (pump in head frame of some year, with pre 48 truck/pre 49 car engines and I think)
A 37 with a 40 engine, no issues or spacers needed.
Martin.
