finish on door latch assembly, 68A ?
I have two different finishes on the Ferro 14440 door latch assemblies of my late 68A 1929 cabriolet. One appears to have been bright nickel plated, the other painted. When I got the car in '58, one door had a plywood mount for the latch and regulator and the other side was stamped metal mount. I replaced the wood side with a metal mount. Years ago, I picked up a third latch assembly and stamped mount (likely from a Briggs sedan(?)) and it has the same part number, but is a little different design and was painted.
Which finish would be correct? I did not find a clear answer in my copy of the Judging Standards (1989). |

The latches and the catches were nickel plated in 1929.

I've always seen them nickel plated on quality restorations |
