Re: The Perfect Patina ?
To all of you guys who have assumed that this car is in Australia, I see many things in the background of these photos to suggest it is still in the US. It is also LHD. Maybe M2M can confirm.
Cars like this just don't turn up over here. As Runnerbun says, we are envious of what you guys take for granted. To M2M. Does it have a title? If you want to bring it back here, walk away if it doesn't or if the owner won't/can't get one no matter what the price. You won't get it out of the country.

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
It's cool, i would be tempted to patch the top with a little painted canvas and make it running and drive well. Anyone who said it should be crushed is a noob and needs to gtfo.

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
What price would this vehicle bring in the States http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1929-ford...#ht_101wt_1105
Pitty is this very restorable car will finish up in the hands of a Rodder. They seem to have no problems in spending this type of money. Result - Another very restorable Model "A" lost forever.

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
This car looks like it is in the USA, not Aust [ going by the background trees etc.] & probably a bit expensive plus shipping costs to Downunder.
There are a lot of good cheap Tudors in the US. If the car was already in Aussie & price was $AU, it would be a good buy. |

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
If you want to drive it and go touring or rallying,as we call it over here, over long distances then restore it you will not regret it. No fun breaking down or having a vehicle thats uncomfortable to drive. Paint it with the old Nitro Cellulose Laquer & leave it in the hot sun, dont clean it, drive it a lot and you will have that old Model A patenia in no time at all. Happy Christmas.

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
That's an unusual sediment bowl. Oz only? And it's hard to tell from the pix, but it looks like it may have the E28 splash aprons. If it is really early 28, it might be a nice one to acquire.

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
It's not real clear, but the parking brake is in front of the tranny. Yes, it's going to take some work, but I still like the looks of it for a car that isn't all messed up by previous owners. It looks like a good solid start for a car to restore.

Funny, but what I have considered over the last few years, is the cars that are lost are the ones that are not driven........for fear of being run over from behind, and not being able to stop when a modern car jams the brakes on , and the lack of fun when you are driving your car over and above what YOU like because of a huge truck right up your arse. This car will most likely end in a rodders hands, but at least it will be driven, and probably be a lot safer to all concerned. In 30 years, most of the cars here will be in the hands of kids who are born right now in 2014, who knows what they will want with old tin, we will all be under ground, just like Henry Ford has been for a long time. |

You will also note that the ebay listing is targeting the rodder/ratrod market. That is where the money is. I don't think a restorer will pay anywhere near that price.

Re: The Perfect Patina ?
Easy, get an original car and sandblast it and throw over a light coat of colour and let it rust thru, then wax it .

This one was in Leipers Fork, TN Christmas Parade following Mike Wolfe in his red pickup. Mike was Grand Marshal this year. Merry Christmas

I agree, Jim's car is totally representing of what the word "Patina" means to me. It is a car that someone can study and notice many details. Unfortunately, many never get to truly see/experience a car of this caliber. |
