Intermittant Starter Problem
My 1930 pickup is experiencing intermittant starting problems.
Sometimes, when I push the starter button I get no response, other times ithe starter rotates just fiine. The battery is fully charged. Could it be the starter switch is failing or is it the starter itself. Thanks for your thopughts. |

Re: Intermittant Starter Problem
I'd suspect the starter switch itself. If it was the starter drive the starter would be locked and you would have to rock the car in gear to unlock it, or worse as I had to recently, disassemble the starter case in the car and use a pipe wrench on the armature.

Re: Intermittant Starter Problem
It could be either. You can remove the band and look at the brushes to see if the springs are hitting the brush holders.
