Almost any std engine stand will work, but if its an earlier style with bellhousing cast as part of the block it is suggested NOT to mount it to the stand by the bellhousing. Companies sell adapters that bolt to the exhaust flange so you can mount the engine sideways.

Thanks, what companies sell the adapters? This is 1936 block so bell housing is not an issue.

I'm looking for a stand that would set on the floor for storage not a stand that would be one that rotates.

Thanks, Ed

You don't want a STAND, you want a CRADLE

The '36 HAS the bellhousing problem. We're talking about early motors that have the bellhousing moulded into the block. '49 and later do not have the bellhousing issue.

Thanks, first experience with flathead v8's. Bought a 1934 coupe with a 1934 cracked block not sure if its repairable yet, but I found a 1936 LB block for it that I will probably use. Should be a good learning experience.

I have a Reds Headers stand, it rolls very easy and stores the engine under my work bench.

Reds Headers sells a cast aluminum adapter that bolts onto the existing engine stand: http://reds-headers.net/index.php?ma...roducts_id=130

Lowtech, I do not sell my parts, all items are free. I do charge a modest transportation fee, for the time machine I use to find these things. In the case of the Claybourne stands the fee is $300.

Hey! That's mine. Wish I had another!

I have a exhaust mount from Flathead Jacks for my "regular" engine stand and I really like it.
