My '39 p/u with wide fives has 215/70R16's. Another option is 215/85R16's which are a bit narrower than the 70 series I have on my p/u.

Far as I know, 60hp car 3.5 width, most cars 4”, pickup and Mercury 4.5”
I had some widened 2”, to fit 750 tires

My 1 ton as I remember has a 7.5” 6 lug Split rim,
The picture with 650 tire probably the rim is the max for wide 5 Stock, 4.5”width
Research I had done,
I believe the 3/4 ton pickup has extra leaves, still wide 5 pattern 4.5”
4” wheel used 600 tire
3.5” used 550 tire

Guys....It's obvious that this is NOT an original tire on this wheel. People 'up-sized' tires all the time. A 6.50 tire on a 4" wheel was a normal occurrence. '36 thru '39 'wide-five' wheels were all 4"-wide except for the very few 3-1/2" V8-60 wheels that were produced. Even with no pressure in this tire, if you'll pay attention to the tire/rim between 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock, it's easy to see that this is the regular ol' narrow, 4" wheel. Heck, the second picture shows a big ol' 7.50-R16 that we put on a 16 X 4-1/2" Ford wheel. It's been done to death! DD

The majority of the wide five wheels will have the date/manufacture, Ford or KH with month/year stamped into the back side of the bead area, generally at 6 o-clock from the valve stem.
I would doubt very much that there are very many Standard Series 16 x 3.5 wheels exist now. The 550 x 16 tire would have been an odd tire size in '36, most people would have opted for the 600 x 16 tire

Like I noted earlier, the 16 X 3-1/2" wheel only came on V8-60 cars. There were NO 60-horse engines in 1936. '37 was the first V8-60 here in the States. Pictured is one of the 3-1/2" wheels from 1940, which in fact, was NOT a wide-five. DD

According to the EFV8 Club, 35-36 book, Wheels And Tires: "In July of 1936, standard model cars were equipped with 5.50 x 16 four ply non-script tires and the rim was reduced from 4 inches wide to 3 1/2 inches wide".

I had a 36 std 5W a few years back and all the 5 wheels which were original to the car were 3.5" wide.

Here is a 16 x 5" Kelsey wide five wheel that I have. I believe it's
from a '41 pickup, 3/4 or 1 ton...

Like a skunk in the wind, it's coming back to me now. You ARE correct in that those last few production '36 Standards had the skinny wheels. DD

Not 1 ton. Photo shows a '38 1 ton. The wheels are 5 lug and not wide 5.

You guys are correct on 3-1/2" wide, wide 5 bolt pattern wheels in '36, and these wheels are not that difficult to find today. Fact of the matter is, many people would trip over them and still not realize what they are. I've had two of these in my collection for years, and just picked up three more in a group of parts recently purchased.
The really difficult versions to find are the 1940 3-1/2" wide with 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. I had two of these and sold them at relatively high dollars.

I wonder? Were the '37-39 Lincoln wheels wide 5 on 10".. If they are I would make book that the Lincoln wheels are wider than the Ford. A comment was made earlier in this thread that the Merc wheels in 39 were 4.5".
