Default Hood support mechanism

Raised my hood this morning and realized that mechanism had come loose on one end. 1939 Ford Pickup. I have found mechanism to be listed as part number: 78-16780 and called a “top support”. Look at my pictures and see if you think I have lost a piece and just where should loose end attach? Many thanks for your help.
