Default 1934 Fuel Line

Who makes a good reproduction 1934 fuel line this is the short rubber fuel line between the fuel pump and the main gas line? The one I have is only 5 years old and it is all cracked and just started to leak.

Good info Pete. I had one from C&G, whom I normally like, but it cracked in two years

I agree, I have Shewman hoses on my '34 roadster and my '37 sedan. I also had the carburetors and fuel pumps rebuilt by Charlie Schwendler. My cars sit up a lot but no more e-10 problems with them.

Here is a photo of a"new" one on a friend's car that cracked in two-months. This is ridiculous! I told him to go to Hose Man or other hose specialist and have them crimp fittings onto some quality fuel hose (Goodyear, Gates, Dayco). If you have the cloth covered fuel hose, you can't see the cracks and they are probably using this same hose under the cloth. One little opening, and the pump will suck air and not fuel, then you're dead on the side of the road. Sunday, when I took this photo, the car made it there without a problem, on the way back it barely made it home. I accused him of being cheap or reusing the hose to make it look like if was from the 1940s. He said, 'its new"! I just bought it when I put flathead in two-months ago. It looks like a hose from the 1940s.

I think they used some type of vacuum hose that is not fuel resistant. We carried rolls of vacuum line and fuel line at the phone company, and they look exactly the same, except the vacuum line is not fuel resistant. The fuel hose says fuel resistant on the outside of it. Even that cannot be used inside of a tank, like for in-tank electric pumps or as a pickup tube. Those hoses need to be rated for submerging in fuel because the outside covering needs to be fuel resistant. We had to carry three types of hoses.

I can't imagine that the poorest fuel line could have cracked like my friend's did in only three-months. It cannot be fuel rated, cut your hose open and see if it deteriorated from the inside. Don't buy another one from one of the vintage Ford dealers. Chances are they are all coming from the same source. Have one made so you know you're getting a good hose that will last for ten or more years.
