rear brake drum puller

has anyone used the grhovie rear drum puller?

I have not BUT the end result is "just" about all the different pullers work as advertised. The only thing I would do, after looking at it (and its my personal thought on this type puller) is I would thread the nut back on the axle just about flush with the end and maybe put a washer on top of the nut to use as a buffer between the puller and the axle end just as insurance against damaging the axle end/Threads. Might be overkilll or a waste of time BUT it only takes a minute of caution. The one I bought has a "push nut" (for lack of a better term) that threads onto the axle to push (or pull) against for just the above reason, I liked that featured. JMO. Good luck

IF you are interested, here is the one I bought and the link. Depending on which drum you have, obviously......Vintage Precision out of CA. It is quite a bit more than what I saw a Grhovie listed for but it is the "Kings Nibbs". The best tool for a V8 Ford I have ever bought.

I agree, I bought this puller and it is a very precise piece of equipment. It works to.

I have one and its always done the job. If the extra expense isn't an issue the above VPI style would be easier to use.

Check out the one that Mitchell Manufacturing (Mitchell Overdrives) makes. Order direct or most Model A Vendors carry them. https://mitchelloverdrives.com/mitchell-hub-puller/

The advantage of the Mitchell puller is it can be used on both types of hubs which may not be a issue with the V-8 cars.

I found an ebay listing for the grhovie puller and it directed to a YouTube video. All I can say is that the guys hub in the video was nowhere tight enough. In my experience if you don't fear for your mortal life while winding the puller it is not tight enough!
I use the Vintage precision one and have never regretted buying it.

Just received my Grhovie puller 45 min ago and the first drum is off. It is a very stout tool and popped the drum off in a few slight wacks per instructions. It well machined and very similar to the Mitchell but appears to be stronger. Bear in mind that my drums are lapped to axle with 90% contact and torqued to 245ft lbs. Thanks to everyone for the quick response.

100%. This is a must have tool for any early Ford garage. Pay up once and have it a lifetime.

Just looked at the Mitchell puller and is essentially the same as mine.I have a Mitchell in my 37 and would have bought from them if I had known.

I bought one two years ago but have yet to use it, maybe this fall.
