Default SW Town Sedan - Source or plans for rear seat wood.

I need to buy or build the rear seat cushion and backrest wood for a SW Town Sedan. Have not found a source but could use plans to build. Any information appreciated.

I think you need to put more info as to the year of your SW Town Sedan and whether it is a Murray or Briggs!

SW to me means slant windsjield ….all 1931
I’ve never seen any diff in rear seats as to B or M except did see one with center arm rest. Don’t know if original or even correct

It is my understanding that all Slant Windshield Town Sedans are 1931 and were built to a Ford design. Bodies were built by Murray, Briggs and Ford but all would be essentially the same. Let me know if this is incorrect.

There are very few differences in B&M
The only one that comes to mind is the rear valance. They mount differently

I bought brand new seat wood from one of the big parts vendors about 15 years ago for my S/W Deluxe Town Sedan. I'm sure you already checked them out though... what about "Classic Wood" down south? They had about everything wood for the Model A.

Classic Wood..
Their products are top notch
However, go on their site and see all the products that are “backordered”
I’ve heard from retailers of their wood that some items have been on order from them for 18+ months.
If it’s for low production styles…good luck!

Both Briggs and Murray had design departments. Edsel Ford would bring them a basic design concepts and the rest would be worked out by the individual subcontractors with final approval by Edsel. They did things like this for quite a while. Ford subbed out the designs that were going to be more limited in production like the Fordor models, the Cabriolet, and a few other models over the model A production period. The subcontractors just built the bodies and then they were sent out to all the assembly plants for final assembly. While the bodies that were made by subcontractors are similar, there are plenty of subtle differences between them.

I had to replace some of the wood in the back seat of my '31 town sedan, I removed the bad pieces and remade them by hand.
Sad to say my computer crashed and I lost ALL my videos and info I had saved for years and years.
I am now starting over gathering info.
What I really miss is the videos of me first starting my car after she slept for 54 years.

I would like to know for dbknorr and myself if a '30/'31 Tudor Sedan rear seat back rest is one in the same? Also, could either be interchangeable with the SW that dbknorr has. I have the parts book but have never been able to understand it.

Don’t have either in the shop at this time. But Classic sells them as different parts numbers.
I would presume they are different
I know that even Vic and A400 are different from each other

O.K. Thanks for the info Oldbluoval! Thought they could be compatible as the back of the cars look similar.
Thanks again!

Cape Codder - thanks for the response and offer to measure but I am pretty sure the wood on a SW 4dr is different than a Tudor. Thanks again.

I checked Classic Wood today and they said they don’t make the rear seat cushion or back rest wood.

When Steve Cannon owned it they did because I bought the back from him. 25 years ago!
Steve was gone too soon … a really great guy.
New owners do a good job.. I think they are really stretched. That’s what happens when you’re really good!
If some one will provide one to copy or the factory prints…..
