If memory serves only the license plate light wire pops out of the body, lower, center?, up into the tailgate. Wires travel to respective tail lights. The license plate light is tied into one of the taillamp wires, 55 Dave?

My car is not available for review but will see it again in two weeks or so. Will check this thread again then.

I have a '55 Courier wagon, but the wire routing is probably no different than passenger wagon models. Here how it is run on the Courier wagon.
Down along firewall to indented trail along the transmission hump, then under the seat and on floor behind the seat. Just follow where the factory floor clips are. The harness pops up and runs along the top of the rear wheel well behind the flange and is clipped to the flange with push-on wire clips. The harness continues to the back to the driver-side taillight/backup light then pokes thru into the tunnel under the floor which is exposed by opening the tailgate. The harness runs along under the floor attached by little strips of metal on the body which can be bent over the wiring. There is a little hole in the middle of this section that allows you to poke the fuel gage wiring into the spare tire well. Not sure how they routed the rear license light wiring, since the Courier has a back door and that routing is different. Anyway, in this tunnel under the floor, the harness continues to the passenger side tail/backup lights.
