Default Major find...very spendy...

Went to the Portland, Oregon EXPO this past weekend for the BIG Antique show and came across a very nice 3' x 5' (or there abouts) original poster of the very early 1928 "Features Of The New Ford" Tudor.

The guy said it came out of an old warehouse in Oakland, Oregon.

$3,500.00 was the price.

Bottom line is...I left it there.

Should of had my wife take a picture of it...I know the vendor...maybe he can shoot me a photo of it.

Steve, the next time you are in Eureka, CA, stop by and I will GIVE you one (well, similar) for FREE. In my basement I have ten years worth of newspapers from 1922 to 1932, several issues of each edition. The newspapers have a lot of period advertisements, including all the full-page ads that Ford used to promote his NEW FORD.

Giving you one would be my way of saying 'Thank You' for all the time and effort you have given to help support our hobby.

- With my best regards, Doug Vieyra, Eureka, Calif

That is the one Brad, but the white boxes with the descriptions were the same color as the rest of the board. I would have given it a 90 out of 100.

I was at the American Picker's place in Nashville a month ago and they had an original one all framed up. Think it was in the neighborhood of $500.

I have no idea what they are worth, but $3,500 seems WAY out of line.

Don't they sell those posters at the national meets?
And for a lot less.

17" x 36" color , but only $9.90. As bad as you feel about passing up the cool poster at $3500, imagine how you'd feel if you'd bought it and then found one for $3490.10 less?

Thumbs down Re: Major find...very spendy...

As of late I have sure been noticing the extremely high prices. People have been placing on the stuff they are trying to sell. What gives?
To many people watching Prickers (my spelling) TV show. Or, just plain old greed rearing its ugly head these days.

I would not want to short cut any of the dealers as I supply both the “Features Of The New Ford” and the “Location of the New Ford Model A Power Plant Troubles Made Easy” posters to them. Both of these posters are available from several of the dealers and both national clubs. Generally the dealers have them priced about $10 each.

Below is some information on both posters.

The “Features Of The New Ford” poster is smaller (approximately 19” x 36”) than the original showroom print, it replicates the original full size print and is in full color. The poster shows a 1928 Tudor cutaway with details highlighting the many advances that were incorporated into the “New Ford”.

The “Location of the New Ford Model A Power Plant Troubles Made Easy” diagnostic chart was arranged by Victor Page in 1928. This is a quality reprint of the original chart, same size (22 x 34 inches), colors, and paper stock as the original. The chart is used for diagnosing and resolving operational problems of the Model A Ford. The chart outlines parts of the engine, fuel system, ignition group, and cooling system that are apt to give trouble, details troubles that are liable to make an engine lose power, start hard, or work irregularly, and simplifies the location of the engine faults.

Excellent information, thanks. Perhaps an original is worth the asking price. Whether it is a tv show or greed, it really doesn't matter. There's a relatively limited market and if someone will pay the price, then that's what it's worth. I don't see why it is greed to ask the most you think you can get for something. The seller doesn't "owe" the buyer anything. If you want what is being offered, you negotiate the proice to what you're willing to pay-or not.

The one at Antique Archeology, Nashville. I can't read the price and forgot what it was. It might say 925.00

Yep. Guess you'd need to decide if originality and the $2.25/sq inch ($3490.10) difference was worth it.
