Default 91-5374 Muffler Bracket or Muffler Needed

The strap that mounts the muffler clamp on my '40 is a sad replacement. Looks like it could easily be fabricated with a vise and a hammer. Does anyone sell a correct one? I also need a modern muffler that fits. Thanks: Fred A

Fred, check with Michael at 3rd Gen Automotive (35fordtn) or Fred at Southside Obsolete (barnfind08) for the hanger. For the muffler, you might check with Waldron Exhaust (waldronexhaust.com). Good luck

The muffler support bracket is part number 91A-5274 and is easily made from a piece of steel strap with holes on each end and a square hole in center. 40larry

Look at page 4-5 in the new 1940 restoration book for a photo of this part.

The original part has slight bends to offset the height of the bracket to the correct level. The basic part was offered for several years and the bends vary. The diagram below is not mine. I am not sure it represents the bracket in question or one of the other years.
