Beautiful survivor car out for a stroll
The wife and I were out looking for a new home site to get closer to the grand kids when out of no where a all original 28-29 roadster appears . The old guy was enjoying his ride with a large cigar blowing in the wind. It appeared to be a un touched original right down to the faded green paint. He ran right by us and it sounded right.. With the weather here in central fl in the low seventies and bright sun it makes for a pleasant driving day. Hope all of our friends up north will finally get some warm weather coming there way soon.. I tried to gets picture but he was in the wind before the cell phone camera was out. Hope to see more of these lovely sites the next few days.

Just got back from two weeks in Florida, and no A's spotted anywhere. Saw a 50 Ford tudor and 55 hardtop, though. Heavy traffic everywhere. Looks like a dangerous place to drive a Model A.

Mike Peters,
Yes, people drive like maniacs here! Even in the semi-rural area where I live. I've got a Borg-Warner O/D in my '29 and use it religiously. If I don't I feel as if I will be run off the road for not going fast enough. Bob-A |

We just go to fast. Americans are the only people in the world that will stand in front of a micro wave and holler " hurry up"

Re: Beautiful survivor car out for a stroll
While I'm in O/D I try and keep the speed around 55 mph. However, if I don't watch myself I'll find I'm doing 60 or better. The car is a fairly new restoration with cast iron drums, new linings, new tires, etc. But, in O/D sometimes I feel like I am "over driving" the skinny tires and original brakes.

It's possible to drive 110MPH on the left lane and the BMW from behind is signalling that you are the road block Joerg from Germany |

Re: Beautiful survivor car out for a stroll
joergr,
Ditto on that! I lived in Germany back in the early 70's while in the US Army. A buddy had a 914 Porsche and we traveled a fair amount. It was a weird feeling to be cruising at over 100 mph: approx. 120 klm per hour? And have a car come up behind you and flick his lights so you would get out of his way. Which you did immediately if not sooner! The average German was a lot better driver then his American counterpoint. Bob-A |

100 mph = 161 kph
120 KPH = 75 MPH

Just don't try that in Switzerland. Those buggers are still trying to give me a ticket. Good thing I can't read what it says so I just throw it away.

Yeah... been there and done that! The big BMW's and Mercedes on your back bumper at 170 kph and flashing their lights to get you to move over.
