Default Repro light switch rod too big

I have a reproduction light switch rod that seems to be too large in diameter to fit down the tube to the light switch. It goes in about 1/2 inch then stops. Does anyone have any experience in making that fit?

How does it compare with the old one? Do you have measuring tools?

There was the exact same problem posted a couple of weeks ago.

Gently sand a little bit off on a belt sander. They are just a little large where the square part is where the spider goes on. Takes less then a minute to fix
