Default 1933/34 coupe cramped interior room

The 1933/34 is a very sporty design, but Is it not very cramped inside?
I have a 1933 fordor and noticed the first time I opened my front door, that there is not much room up front even with my bench seat. Just enough space for an average size guy and a skinny girl friend. The rear of my car is very spacious. probably could squeeze 5 skinny girl friends in there.
For a larger driver the coupe must be like a sporty ONE seater.
It is probably one of the most beautiful sports cars ever designed.
If you own this wonderful are, please share some of your experiences about the your car that relates to interior size. There is the rumble seat that must be a lot of fun.

The 5 window coupe and the 4drs should be about the same size inside in the front seat area. The doors are basically the same as are more of the other interior parts.

we have a 33 fordor and a 34 3w, both seem to have the same room in the front, legroom and seat width.
there is nothing behind the seat in the 34 3w,just a parcel tray.
And we took the rumble seat out and stored it, as you could not even fit an esky in there with the seats in,

It is such a beautiful car, I almost bought one before I bought the Fordor.
The coup has such style and class, when you drive it around heads will really turn but it that interior is so cramped. Maybe the idea car for a Jockey. He likes the speed and Is small.

My fordor is so cramped in the front that Only my wife can fit comfortably in there with me and she weight 98 lbs. I weight 180lb. Everyone else has to right in the back which is very spacious.

Frank, you must have a different model to our 33, its quite roomy in the front, more so is you slide the seat back,no problem,we travel all over Australia in it towing our caravan no drama.
Very comfy.

Current Americans tend to be a larger size. At my last high school reunion they took us on a tour of the school. In the auditorium they had us set in the seats and pointed out how they were having to completely replace all of the seating because of the size creep of students. I was amazed at how small the seats were!!

Maybe, my seat slide is not functioning properly. I oiled it, but it is still hard to move. It is best to move it while sitting on it, right?

True.. All the chemicals used to increase of size of animals have entered our bodies and has created big, heavy people as well as big heavy food animals.

FrankWest, I share your observation about the area in the front of your sedan and coupe. When I was in high school 3 or 4 people would ride in my coupe. Now only two can comfortably ride. Conclusion is the Fords must have shrunk over the years.
Remember a couple riding in the rumble seat would close the lid when it got too cold, or to sneak into the drive-in movie. Now only the grand kids fit in the rumble seat area. More Ford shrinkage.

Lawrie you better clarify what an "esky" is to our North American friends that don't know what one is.. wouldn't want them to get the wrong idea, particularly the Canadian folk

Ok, is this it?

The term "esky" is also commonly used in Australia to generically refer to portable coolers or ice boxes and is part of the Australian vernacular, in place of words like "cooler" or "cooler box" and the New Zealand "chilly bin".

i recently bought a 34 3 window coupe. its a huge project, long ways from the road, but i am hoping you can get in and out of it without having to twist your foot sideways to get between the seat and A pillar like in a model A. funny, it took them all the way till after the war to open up the foot room for exit and entry. the suicide door must help?

And here I was worried about telling the story about an eskimo on his snow machine that just blew a seal.....

Good luck thinking that if you are tall or large. I am 5 ft 17 inches with size 14 shoes. To drive any of the '34's I have for any distance I have to wear sandals or have bare feet, boots don't work well. Getting in and out is a chore for the legs and for the feet. I do have to twist my foot like you mentioned. The worst of my cars is the phaeton since the seat does not retract. The easiest and most comfortable to drive is the Victoria. The coupes and cabriolet are all about the same, cramped but OK for 2 people. I can remember driving my 5-window coupe in 1973 and picking up 3 girls needing a ride home from the A&W Drive in in Daly City. We all fit great. Well I thought so anyway
