Default Clutch Lever Release 65 Falcon

Hi, hope I’m not asking an inappropriate question on this forum. Sorry if so. The clutch lever release on my 65 Falcon seams to have come loose. Sorry it is a 6 cylinder 200 ci. Can I reattach without dropping the trany and or bell housing? Thanks I’m not skilled enough to be called a backyard mechanic.

Attached is a brief diagram of the clutch release assy. The release lever (7515) is held in the correct position with spring (7562) secured to bracket (7522).

You will most likely have to remove the trans to diagnose and repair.

Occasionally the rivets that hold the clutch lever pivot (7522) break off. We used to replace the rivets with a tapered head screw that you could bolt in. Again, you'll have to pull the trans.

It's hard to get in the bell housing unless it's off the engine.

I have found the kit that comes with a bracket ( different than the existing bracket) but how could I know if the accompanying screws are hardened? I donÂ’t mind paying the approximate 20 bucks. It would be worth it not to have a redo in the near future. Thanks and God Bless.
You would use a hardened cap screw (min GRADE 5), lock washer and BLUE LOCTITE. Do not get the fasteners from HOME DEPOT. See if there is a FASTENAL STORE or HD TRUCK DEALER nearby.

Measure needed length. You want the fastener end towards the flywheel. Make sure it is not too long as to interfere with the lever hold-down spring. Also make sure the cap screw head will not interfere with the trans face when re-installing
