heh reminds me of the "pulled off barn car or found on barn floor" starters and generators I saw at IOLA... for $125 a piece......I looked at them for a spit second in disbelief and was told $75 and I could have them. I told him knock the 7 off there and hes competitive to everyone else at the show.

How do you figure? If the buyer will not do any research for the part and jumps at the first one he/she sees, what is wrong in collecting their money?

I wouldn't assume that he's any more than a hard working nice guy,,,
His rating is 100% and nothing that he has sold has ever been $1000.00.
I would look for other causes,,,,,,

after all, aren't all fuel problems electrical any way?

I don't get it. All his current listings are Buy It Now for $1,000. But if you look at his feedback history the items he has sold are more typical prices. Does he expect a buyer to make an offer?

WISDOM ???????

Not much different than a poor ........ but most "wise" widow who is trying to "successfully" sell "all" of her husband's 50 year collection of very rare Model A parts to who are referred to as today's honest Model A owners ....... she also knows how to jack up the asking prices.

Most who own Model A businesses today will agree that approximately 98.99% of our Model A owners are honest; however, 99.99% of our Model A owners will gladly take advantage of anyone.

This Ebay guy appears to have learned the 99.99% rule and to offer everything at $1,000.00, with a "Make Offer Ad".

Next here comes one of the 98.99% of the Model A honest owners, and falling into the 99.99% class, he gladly offers $139.63 for a $1,000.00 item.

The next Sunday, this honest Model A owner who sat in the front pew, gets out of church and cannot wait to tell all of his friends what a great deal he made screwing an Ebay salesman out of $860.37.

In the end, both live "Happily Ever After" as noted in his 100% ratings, and by the multiple praises, for example, on fast shipping etc.

The minds of horses and dogs usually appear more difficult to analyse.

Many sellers will change a listing to an unreasonable price when they don't want or expect to sell it for whatever reason - away from home unexpectedly, family emergency, item temporarily out of stock, etc., etc.. I guess they figure this is the easiest way to suspend the listing and when they're ready to sell again they simply go back in and change the price back to what they actually want for the item. Given his past sales history and the fact that all current listings were set at $1000, I highly suspect that this is the situation. In the meantime if somebody is stupid enough to pay the price and buy the item, they may have to wait awhile but I'm sure that the seller will be more than pleased to complete the transaction as soon as possible!!!

I'd bet he wouldn't take the $1000.00, but offer an explanation and ask the fair price.
His reviews are too spotless to think anything else from my point of view.

It's too easy to jump to unhealthy conclusions with out the real information,
unless I talked to him personally I wouldn't begin to guess,,,,,easy to start rumors,
hard to stop them.

I used to chew my toenails as a kid,,,chew on that for awhile.

Or better yet, let's talk about it.

FWIW:

With American Capitalism, it takes many 100% satisfied customers for an E-bay seller to acquire a 100% rating.

With American Capitalism as opposed to Socialism, it takes a wise outstanding E-bay seller with integrity and superior intelligence to acquire this 100% rating which definitely attracts intelligent, "conservative" repeat type buyers as opposed to just non-purchasing cheap bitching shoppers.

This gentleman has established a unique marketing method which appears to attract only serious buyers who have cash available and a desire to make a descent offer to purchase what he has listed.

Just one (1) humble opinion after being self-employed for over 40 years:

If you own a bar with dancing Go-Go Girls ...... and everybody in town is going to the bar across the street; try to find out what is going on across the street .......... don't just sit there and bitch while you become bankrupt and your starving family is living off of sweet potatoes, (for (3) meals a day), cooked with Vienna sausage.

Hi Tudor,

Thanks. This gentleman appears to have already accomplished getting rid of both of the items listed in Reply #19 with his fixed, unique marketing asking price of $1,000.00.

"None" of his buyers appear to have negative comments or complaining about shopping; and stores seem to have lots of Vienna sausage on the shelves ever since he began advertising on E-bay.

But please, for every concerned, conservative Model A owner, please be cautious because a few years ago I received an ad for buying stock in a telephone company making "wireless" telephones, which later created fortunes.

Just yesterday, I received an ad with a photo attached asking me to buy stock in a garden water hose company making residential "hose-less" garden water hoses .... hmmmmm ..... photo indicated a guy holding a pistol grip garden hose head dispensing a beautiful spray of water with absolutely "no" hose attached ...... I'll think about that one prior to investing.
