'29 roadster upholstery question
How many yards of material should I buy to upholster my '29 roadster drivers seat. It has a seperate back and separate seat spring....

Depends on what you want. Pleats or plain. On average most upholstery fabric runs 54 inches wide. You need to calculate (add) boxing's ( seat bands ) and welt cord.

Also, I am assuming you are doing both the seatback and the cushion? Just as a heads-up, you may want to purchase 10 yards (which is generally the price-break qty.) so that you have enough to do the door panels, kick panels, seat side upholstery, and the seatback cardboard at a later time with material that matches. You will also need to get foundation muslin, piping cord, duckdrill or denim decking, and a few other things besides the vinyl. |
