Default Valve Guides-tight fit?

Whats the solution to tight valve guides-split-stock. Won't seat all the way down? thanks.

Last summer when I was cleaning my block I cleaned out the guide holes with a battery terminal cleaning brush, there was a very thin layer of something in there.

I was thinking BFH, but the other ideas are probably better.

Mic the O.D. of the guides, as some are not made to Spec's. Some are as much as .002 thousandths bigger then they should be.

I have had to buy as many as 3 sets and pick out the good ones, and send the rest back!

Bill, yes the plumbers brush would be perfect, it has a longer handle. (Please tell Dog thanks for the technical description).

Herm is right of course, but I still like the BFH idea when all else fails. The good thing about the BFH idea is that you can use it when you do not mic the guides to specs as Herm suggests, and then the guides compress when you get them in, and bind on the valve stems....which you have measured for fit....Moral is, measure everything, twice.
