Thumbs up Rumbleseat!!

ALL: I had a nice conversation with our Rumbleseat yesterday - he is doing well, but still battling some health issues that prevent his travelling away from home. The famous roadster is running better that a "Swiss watch" even though Denver has snow right now (Paul has NEVER been afraid to drive the roadster in adverse weather, so this just slows him down rather than stopping him). He has gone completely through the Roadster: rebuilt, restored or replaced whatever needed it..........

For Ryan - Rumbleseat mentioned that he has tried to get on the 'Barn, but that the program won't allow him; Rumbleseat said that he sent a message to Ryan asking for assistance, but no response - perhaps you could help get Rumbleseat back on the "Barn??

Regardless - He sent his best to everyone!!

MARCUS ......................
I have heard, from other friends, on how they can not get onto FORDBARN.
There must be something that is wrong. I hope it can be straightened out.

Marcus, thanks for the update on Rumbleseat. He was truely a great asset to all the Early Ford websites that he posted on. Wish he would find his way back here. I have also sent messages to Ryan on various subjects and very seldom do I receive a reply.

Paul used to post about the long trips he took. They were so good, he should have put them in a book. He used to take at least one long trip every year - hope he still does or will be able to soon

Perhaps one of the moderaters of the barn could get in contact with Rumbleseat and help him log on. He is an asset to the hobby, a positive contributor & missed.

I looked up Rumbleseats user profile and noticed it has three periods before it (... Rumble Seat). I wonder if that is his problem. I don't remember him having the periods when he posted before.

Paul is listed as a member as of 2010 and his last activity was April 2011. This activity was possibly just reading posts since he has never made a post. Maybe he has forgotten his password. I'm sure someone could help him straighten that out. It would be great to have him back posting some of his vast knowledge on Flatheads and Early Ford V8's again

Had the Pleasure of meeting Paul a couple of times and even had a ride in the roadster. I learned very quickly to keep my mouth shut and just listen. Being around a man who is so into flatheads is an education in itself. Check out this link to see what I mean. http://flatheadv8.org/odyssey.htm
It would be great to have him back.

When Paul wrote up his cross country adventure in his roadster on one of the old flathead sites 12-14 years ago (article later appeared in Rodders Journal)...that was what really brought me back into this hobby and got me interested in flatheads again. He is also the one that got me interested in the Hudson steering conversion for 32-34 Fords when he showed me his 34 at the LA Roadster show one year.

I am glad to hear he is still enjoying his roadster and would like to see him on here again.

There is a rumble seat (two words) on the HAMB. Pretty sure it's Paul. I think he got on the HAMB by mistake and now can't figure out why he cant get on the Barn. I don't see him on the Barn member list.
There is a Rumbleseat on the Fordbarn; a firefighter from Fruitport, MI who has made 6 posts.

Thank you Marcus for the update. I really hope his health improves to the point he can again make longer distance trips in his beloved roadster!
I feel fortunate he has visited my home twice, first in 2003, and then more recently with BillB, both times while he was on the return run from a long trip.
Three of my friends and I made our maiden voyage to Bonneville in '08, and met up with Paul. He insisted on giving all of us a ride in his roadster to see all the activity in the pits and meeting many of his flathead friends including some from NZ and Australia. Didn't bother him that a lot of salt had been tracked into his car!
I think I remember someone else using, or trying to use the name rumbleseat back on the old Ford Barn, and may be the reason Paul is having a problem now. Hopefully Ryan can straighten things out so the real "Rumble Seat" can be active again on the "Barn".

Yes! I photocopied his entire treatise so I could access it quickly. Very informative, and it would be great to have his presence back here.

BTW: as a long time Hamber, I know that Ryan is a VERY busy guy. There's over 200,000 members on the Hamb, and there's also the other sister sites he runs, such as the Garage Journal. He has three old cars (38 coupe, A coupe and 65 Riviera) to attend to, plus organising the Alliance etc etc. Dont be too hard on him.

Thanks Marcus for sharing your conversation with Rumbleseat. I checked the attachment that was on BillM's response and read what a time he had getting to Ocala in 2006. So it must have been 2007 or 2008 when I met you, Shelly, Mac, Vic and Rumbleseat at Ocala. How time flies!

I can still see the rat rod with a stuffed rat in the intake scoop, shopping cart seats and at least a size 48E bra hanging from the mirror at the Ocala show...
