Default stumped

I'm at a loss. I was having a problem before that when I gave the motor on my 1930 pickup some RPM's the truck would shake and vibrate. A couple of people told me the clutch might be glazed and said to start out in 2nd gear a few times and maybe that would help with the glazing.
Well I got all the other things done and today went to back it out of the garage and I couldn't go into any gear, so I shut off the truck and put it in reverse and without even letting out the clutch the truck just took off. I had to shut it down. What the heck happened since the last time I ran it. If the clutch is glazed would it help to put the rear end on jack stands and put in 2nd and let it run ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob

shifter ball may have come out of the forks. if ball is worn down this will happen! Remove top 8 bolts, 2 emerg brake bolts and lift tower off to inspect ball on shift lever, easy to do. just make sure you hand slide gears to neutral prior to putting top back on, but it is a very easy thing to do. or throw out bearing has a problem!

Sounds like the pressure plate failed. Lucky it happened at home.

You might remove the floorboards and check the clutch action by removing the inspection plate on the clutch housing. It is also possible the clutch disc dropped a tension spring and the spring stuck in the pressure plate.

Check your clutch actuating arm. They crack. Happens often. It’s the lever the clutch pulls up when you push the pedal down. Easy to check. Between this and what you find under the shift cover you should be able to see what is wrong. Good luck and let us know.

I agree that it could well be a cracked release arm.
If not that, then maybe a spring popped out of place in the clutch disc.
Some discs don't have captive springs, and they can fall out of place.

Hey Guy's had to let you know what happened. This morning I had my wife push the clutch peddle in and out a couple of times while I was underneath to see what I could see. Everything was moving OK so I put it in neutral and started it and it went into gear real smooth. I backed out and back in again and it seemed to be working OK. I'm sure I will still have that vibration but wondered if maybe sitting all winter something stuck. Well we'll see how it goes. Thanks again-Bob

I have heard of clutches not releasing or disengaging but just over one winter? It's possible I guess and may be exactly what happened. Let us know how this works out.

I have had the clutch 'stick' to the plate during cold damp freezing weather before. Also know several others that have had a similar occurrence. I just put it into gear and start it up. It will them break free on its own... or so it has in the past.
