Default 57 9" pinion assembly gasket

Hi All,

Quick question, I pulled the pinion gear out to get a new seal installed-probably didn't need to as bunch of oil poured out when I removed the assembly. Oh well, better safe than sorry. Anywho, I pick it up on Thursday and I realized I need a gasket to reinstall it-so it isn't going in on Thursday. Anybody know where I can get one? The vendors don't seem to carry one. NAPA is next on my list.

Thanks,

Mike

Try Concours parts, Tee-Bird Products, CASCO, Hill Restorations. They all deal in 57 parts, should have a gasket for the rear. Rock Auto too.
\
CASCO lists a gasket for a 57 rear, which should be the same gasket that works for all 9 inchers.

This is according to the Concourse diagram is part #4663 not the big pumkin gasket. But I will try the others as well.

Look at the ILL below -

Are you describing PN 4663 and 4669?

#4663, the large gasket that buts up to the pumpkin housing. I guess if need be I could clean it up and RTV it. But would rather not do that.

4663 is the shim used to set pinion depth. You need to reuse that other wise you will probably ruin the gear set unless you use the same thickness shim, but that is not the seal. The O-ring is used to seal the pinion to the case.

Ah, got it. Just got back from Napa and they were wondering the same thing. Thank you all.
