Default Hurst T-Handle with engraved "Ford"

I have a Hurst T-Handle with the word Ford engraved on it in the top front of the handle. It is in it's own indented space on top of the handle. I have never seen another one and can't find any on the internet. Does anyone know anything about it? Has anyone seen one of these before?

I wonder if the previous owner was, or had, a machinist carve Ford into the T-handle.
Cool looking though.

I have never seen one, but could it be from a Hurst Mustang that Hertz rented in the late 60s or early 70s?

The Shelby Mustang offered by Hertz were Black with gold accents and a
few other colors. They were known as the 1966 Mustang GT 350-H Hertz
Rent a Racer that Hertz commissioned Carroll Shelby to build them 1000
of the 306 horse power Fastbacks to be rented out to average customers.
The 8 Rent a Racers that I have seen all had Automatic trans and all had
Ford Factory shifters in them.

The next Mustang deal done with Hertz, I think was in 1985 or so...

It looks like this one, but yours is an old model. I don't know much about it though.

The 66 Hertz cars that did have manuals, all had stock shifters. Ford started using the Hurst shifters starting in 1970. There was something different about the way Hurst was on handle, but none that I ever seen had Ford on them. The body and arms of the shifter were different too.
If I had to say, I think it is made up.

Thumbs up Re: Hurst T-Handle with engraved "Ford"

Yeah, I agree. NOT GENUINE.

ATTACHED BELOW are photos of the D1OZ 7213-A HANDLE offered by FORD in the day. It is a REPRO, but these guys are trustworthy (IMO).
