Rattletrap
Them Ausssies are having too much fun!!!
https://www.whichcar.com.au/events/r...h-sprints-2021 Here in the lower48, we enjoy "The race of the Gentlemen" in Wildwood, NJ (You know when you pray to God from South Jersey, it is a local call!). I note the Aussies run in salt water. Either the know something we don't, or all the ocean salt floats up north. I spoke with a local here a few years back about getting the sand out of his #29 Model A from runs at Wildwood. He said 6 vacuum trys and still the sand was coming out. |

Re: Rattletrap
In the 70's we ran on the beach at Ormand Beach, FL. Good times and a nice wide and dry beach!

As high tide was at about mid day, the racing started late and finished early due to the lack of beach real estate. Some waves came in unexpectedly and cars ended up a bit swamped. The last photo is the next day, same location. |

Re: Rattletrap
That looks super fun! I like the hill climbs here, I've been to the one in Auburn CA to watch before and it looks like fun.

Re: Rattletrap
Great read! I speak Aussie fairly well but missed a couple of words. I know Rod Hadfield, and Ted Robinette, the maker of the Willy-Willy cylinder head. The sand inside the cars wouldn't be my greatest worry, it's the salt! When I get back from Bonneville I spend hours under my truck with a pressure nozzle, and still the next day there is more salt on the garage floor!

Re: Rattletrap
Tickets are on sale for spectators for the next one in May 2022 here in Oz. Google "rattle trap tickets". Accomodation and tickets will be limited tho.
There is also a Facebook Page called "The Rattletrap" with some great photos from photographers who were closer to the action. https://www.facebook.com/groups/674828699356539/ |
