1939 splash pans
Can someone show me where these get installed? Is there a diagram that I can't find?
Thanks |

Re: 1939 splash pans
LHD 1940 Ford V8 Engine Splash Pan. Notice that part has been removed? That is because the "owner" was too lazy to remove the Pitman Arm which goes through this Hole. He merely removed a piece to save the extra work. Last edited by mercman from oz; 12-03-2021 at 04:11 PM. Reason: Description change |

Note the pans' relative location next to either side of the engine oil pan itself. Driver side pan will likely require removal of Pitman arm to install pan. DD |

Re: 1939 splash pans
As has been noted, your left pan was "modified" quite extensively. This is very common as many folks didn't care to remove the pitman arm, to remove this pan properly.
One attachment point is gone from that pan. Either rusted away or broken off. V8Coopman's illustration should help you a lot in figuring out where these install. Three 1/4 - 20 screws were required per pan. Note that one of these (per pan) threaded holes is in the cross member, the remaining two (per pan) on the outer frame rail. I have included a photo of what your pans should appear like.

Re: 1939 splash pans
I happen to have a NOS or NORS driver's side splash pan for a 39-40 if you are interested. It is complete and uncut. Lawson [email protected]

Re: 1939 splash pans
The right hand splash pan I have appears to fit best attaching to the bottom of the front crossmember and the bottom of the frame rail. There are three attachment holes for the RH pan and there is an anti-squeak pad on the front hole where it would attach to the bottom of the crossmember. The pictures shown are on a 1937 car.

Re: 1939 splash pans
coxswain98: I believe the RH pan your showing in your posting #1 is not 39. IMO it is 41 or later.
