Default Coil choice

I am trying to find a coil for my flathead.
I have a 1933 engine that was rebuilt by H&H Flatheads. It has aftermarket aluminum heads, two stromberg 97s carburetors, a slightly lopey cam (I don’t know which one) and Mallory dual point distributor 2572101.
I currently have an all black generic coil with a ballast resistor between the ignition and the coil. It has been converted to 12 volt negative ground.
Question; what coil would you recommend? Should I stay with the ballast resistor in line system or eliminate it and go with a coil that has a built in resistor. I am confused when I look at the specs of the coils. Resistance is all over the board. From .07 ohms to over 8 ohms.

Thanks Corvette, that was a good post. I like the Bosch and I would buy one but no one has any.
I’ve read that the “Beru” coil is the replacement coil for the Bosch blue 00012. Anyone know anything about this coil?

I have always heard nothing but praise for the Bosch blue coils. All my cars had original Ford coils or Mallorys and they were great too. I had friends with VW baja bugs in the 1970s and they all ran those Bosch coils for off roading where they got shaken around a lot. They were supposed to the most durable coils.

I've used many of the Beru coils with no problems. Actually they are less expensive than the Bosch

A plain old 6v coil with a 2-ohm power resistor works just fine on 12v with points. Don't even need a bypass..Simple...

I have a used Bosch blue coil I will sell you for what I paid. I bought it from someone on here or the HAMB. I never used it because I went with a Stromberg efire and Petronix flamethrower 1.5 ohm. Message me if interested.

The resistor is just another part that can fail. I'd rather do without it.

Thanks for all the information and advice. I’ve decided to keep the inline ballast resistor and install a Mallory with 1.4 ohms resistance.
