Default A-400 Windshield Frame

I have a friend needing a windshield frame for an A-400.

Anyone know where he might find one?

TIA, JH

I bought mine from Gene Bunce. He advertises in the restorer magazine. Makes a great product. You won't be sorry.

Gene Bunce is the best source for a proper reproduction windshield. There are 3 minor differences from factory that I could see only because I put a factory one next to it. One is that they use the repro standoffs for the swing arm mount and repro wiper mount and that could be overcome if it was important. The other was a subtle difference in the edge that you can only see if you have the original next to it.

If you must go original-
You do NOT want an original 400A frame lower because the frame has a high probability of rusting through because the original chemicals have been working on the inside for years already. It is a complex bent sheet metal part that has been rusting on the inside for a long time. Some platers refused to replate an original. You need to find an original top (I have one) and a perfect slant window bottom section.

Cost wise it is cheaper to buy Gene's wonderful frame plated and painted (they were painted flat black on the back side) ready to mount. He even includes all you need but the glass- even some tools. He is a good guy and has a great product.

Are there any similarities between the A 400 w/s frame and the 28-29 Briggs 4 dr. frame ?

The slant window windshield is shorter then all the straight window windshields.

Some have tried to cut down the straights, but then you also have to change the swing arm brackets. Gets ugly quick.

You have to spend the bucks and get the right part for best results.
