Default Vintage sounding 12V horn

Looking for a 12v vintage sounding horn. Not the Aoogha horn that everyone advertises, but a rich sounding real horn like what would have come on a 1936 Ford.

1. Anyone bought one that they would recommend?
2. Where/from whom did you buy it?
3. Do you have a sound clip, that would also help, as when shopping, there is no way to sample what a horn sounds like.

looking to replace an import sounding beep beep horn with something more authentic and authoritative.

Thanks

I don't know what a 1936 Ford horn sounds like...but what about one of these?

Try to find an old 12V pancake Spartan horn. I think they sound pretty good.

I'd probably get some stock for the car 6v ones. You can bang 12v through them but they will be louder.

The Lucas Altette horn sounds kinda wimpy and too tinny (high pitched). For me, a deeper tone would be better. A pair of horns from a modern truck or van would be better.

Sparton any size, shape, or year, ( I've used from 1950 to 1993 with success )

will get your message out there.

RG#9 has a member who rebuilds 33/34 horns with Harbor Freight horns internally mounted . 12V and sounds great. Newc

To me the 36 doesn't sound all that good and hard to tune them. The sounds like an old VW bug. I swapped mine for early 60s Thunderbird 12V horns. They will put some pep in your step.
