Lower rear mounts for tubular shocks?
Who sells lower rear shock mounts. I have a pair of old fabricated ones that have been kind of trashed and I'd prefer to use something solid.

most hotrodder suppliers but beats me why you use them when levers are just so much better [repairable' tuneable and infact are still used at the top end of town Maserati and Ferrari to drop a name or two ]

Re: Lower rear mounts for tubular shocks?
Pete: Keep in mind that the angle of the shock is crucial to be effective.
As the angle from vertical increases the effectiveness of the shock decreases. There reaches a point at which the shock become so close to horizontal that it's useless. Re: Lower rear mounts for tubular shocks?
There is more to know than must thinking you can bolt on those shock mounts shown on the HAMB. It depends on WHAT year and what rear is in the car. The ones shown were designed for later banjo rears where the radius rods mounted to the two lower bolts of the backing plate bolts. That is why there is a longer/shorter length to them.
Also, they cannot be used on 32-34 rears as the angle/clocking of the backing plate holes are very different than later rears (which were more parallel to the ground). Also, there is no room for modern shocks between the rear of the axle housings and the spring on 32 - 34s. On later rears, the spring is further back from the axle housing - so there is room for tubular shocks. I've ended up making my own customer mounts for a 32, to use the radius rod-bolts for a lower bracket and a fabricated tubular cross-member for the upper mounts. The shocks go AHEAD of the axle in this configuration. The parts are at the powder-coaters. When they come back, I'll take some pictures of the setup - just so you can see how it all works. If you have a later rear, I have a set of those mounts (from the HAMB) - as I learned all of this the hard way. They are brand new - will sell for $100 plus the ride. DM me if you're interested.
