Default Re: FRONT model A ‘modern’ seal use.

If available i'd use a metal cased leather or combination felt wiper/leather lip spring loaded oil seal as both the felt&leather material are kinder to older style lubricants&metalurgy& DON'T leak &won't "mark/score" the shaft,
Modern neoprene seals if there's even a slight "nick" in the sealing lip will go hard(run dry) resulting in "marking/scoring" on the shaft causing a groove negating use of a aluminium speedie sleeve&in worst case scenario expoy to fill in the groove(s).

Do you have a part number for the leather/felt type?

Hmm, wasnt aware of the Stipe modern front seal ! Will have to contact Bill.
Thanks for your input regarding this modern seal.
For your info, my B engine is out of car and on a stand. That made it easy to fit up the seal. Yes it did take consentration to get the seal onto crank with pully, front cover and pan.. ALL at same time.
Do not think that this can be successfully done with engine in car!
At least I would not attempt it. Haven’t started engine yet, to see any leaks or not.
Thanks for ALL your practical hands on input / experience regarding this neoprene modern seal.
