Default Take Original Coil and Place New Coil Inside

Has anyone tried to take an original ignition coil shell and put a new coil inside to maintain the original look? I was looking if split the back of the original coil or try to cut out the bottom.

Issue is that the new coil are of a diameter that they don't slide inside.

Has anybody tried to this that could provide some thoughts? I tried the search but didn't find anything.

Thanks

Ron
