Default Copper Manifold Gasket Orientation.

I'm installing 2 piece copper manifold gaskets. I've done this a number of times but it never occurred to me if it matters which side goes against the block. One side is formed slightly different than the other. Does it matter?

The conventional wisdom is the same as head gaskets. The uninterupted surface goes against the block.
