Default received engine today

Joe Siril of Turlock Machine finished my engine and I received it today, it looks beautiful, can't wait to hear it run. (he ran it before delivery)..inserted mains and con rods, counterbalanced crank, lightened flywheel, V/8 clutch all balanced, adjustable tappets, stainless valves, Snyder 5.5 head...should be a good touring engine....he stuck to his original price and delivered it in a reasonable time...good guy deal with!!

I have 2 of Joe's touring engines, one in my 30 Coupe and one in my February 29 Roadster. The Coupe engine is so strong I installed 3.54 ring and pinion in the rear end rather than a overdrive. I live in the mountains and pull grades in high gear on the highway. The Roadster will also get 3.54 gears when time permits. Both engines also have full flow oil filters, the one that mounts on the valve cover.

Good news. My engine has also been finished and is on its way across the pond to Australia. Should be here is 3 weeks. Joe was good to deal with.

That wait of two months while you go cruising in a motor home just won't do. For the sake of science I will volunteer to run your engine and test it out for you,,, and hey I'll do it for free.

Actually I am in the hunt for a engine builder and am saving my nickles for the project, does Joe have a web site or contact information?

Hello 2 Rosella ,
I live in Melbourne Australia and if you are considering purchasing / having an engine rebuilt I can recommend from my recent experience J & M Machine company in MA.

They have recently rebuilt a long block engine for me . It was fully balanced , burlington crank , stipe 330 camshaft , Synder 5.5 head. The engine runs like a sewing machine (smooth) and plenty of power.

The quality of John and Michael 's workmanship is first class .Their workshop has the best machines that money can buy and most importantly John and Michael posses the skills to use them and to get a top notch result.

They also have the skill to properly white metal bearings which is very hard to find these days..
They are great people to deal with and the job will get done in weeks not months.John will send you photos of each step in the rebuild which is comforting considering you are 13,000 miles away.
Why take a risk when you don't have too .

J & M have an untarnished reputation.I have never seen a complaint about their work on Fordbarn .Visit their web site

Regards

Mark.

2rosella, I have just done 9,000 miles towing a camper around OZ, taking in the Busselton rally on an engine I had done here. I figure that it is better to deal local where any problems can be dealt with more readily. No slight intended on our American cousins but the workmanship here is just as good. I used Bill Eldridge in Melbourne (9798 8636) and found him honest and reliable (and no BS). He has been rebuilding vintage engines for decades so he knows what he is doing. I recommend him.

Does it need painted green, or are you going to keep it black?

Nice looking and like the paint color too ! Black show off the plated stuff more, IMO.
Hm, always wondered how and why Ford chose the green color. I've thought that he probably got a great deal , volume wish, on that color paint
