64 galaxie steering column auto trans
I am installing power steering in my 64 Galaxie. I am looking for illustrations of the steering column and transmission linkage. I have a handle on shortening the steering shaft and tube but not sure on handling the shifter.

Are you going the BORGESON route?

The main reason I finally sold my old 64 T-bird was due to the power steering pump issues on the Ford/Eaton type pumps. They were crap. It would be a lot of work to change over all the stuff but it may be worth it. Personally, I likes the manual steering better on these cars but I'm used to strong arm steering. The old slave cylinder power steering worked OK but the pump was a big problem for 63 & 64 cars. A lot of these cars were floor shift. If you want remote column shift, you may have a problem there. |
