Default Press in Grease Fittings - Foot Petal

I am missing the grease fittings for one of my foot petals. It is currently open, no fitting. I ordered one from Bert's, but was wondering now to best place it/press it in without damaging the fitting.

I was thinking a small 1/4" socket so to cover the nipple and use a pipe wrench to press in, but looking to the experts to ensure I don't screw this up.

Can you take it out and use a press? Or thread it for the grease fitting that has the pipe thread? Or can you clean it up real good and use the permanent Loctite? Or can you use the 1/4 socket and a hammer?

When I added grease fitting to mine I threaded the pedals.

I agree with nkaminar. The pedals are not that hard to remove. I rebushed mine and drilled and threaded. Screw in the fitting and you're good to go.

The vendors sell an inexpensive tool to press the original grease fittings or you can change ito Zerk grease fittings and use the threaded grease fittings.

Do all LHD Model As have grease fittings on the pedals? I have never seen any on RHD cars apart from mine and I put them there.

Actually it looks like the previous pressed fitting fell off. I ordered a couple of both pressed and threaded just in case I go the threaded route.

As far as I know the earlier A's had no grease fittings on the pedals. After a certain date they became standard.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

FYI - finished last night. The 1/4 socket and gentle tap of hammer was the ticket. Was able to get it into the long vacant hole and pump grease. Fitting worked perfect - did not leak, and looking at the grease expelled when I pumped new in, it was more than overdue. Thanks all for the advice!
