Default Source for Roadster top hold down straps

Seems that these are another in the list of items that are no longer being manufactured. All vendors I have tried are out of stock with no source available. Anyone have any ideas? I am specifically looking for a tan set of straps with all associated hardware including the brackets that fasten to the front header bow. I guess I could have the straps made by a saddle maker but I don't know exactly what hardware I need or where to get it. Any help appreciated.

They can be easily reproduced. All you need are the buckles and you can have the leather cut and stitched. You can find the buckles at swaps. That's where I found mine.

Try a feed and farm store, they carry leather goods.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'll have to go that route. Are the hooks to fasten to the top rests above the rumble seat a common hardware item and where can they be purchased? Are the Footman loops the same as those used on some Model doors, except that they use wood screws whe fastened to the top. I don't see any holes on my front top bow from previous footyman loops. Where exactly do the go on the front bow? Exactly in line with the top rests? On which face of the bow do they go, facing rearward or downward when the top is up?

Find a shoe repair. My local shop had the right shade of leather and a source for the buckles. He was able to make the straps and order the hardware. Not exact, but looks really nice. Also the cost was reasonable.

Russ Furstnow over on the MTFCA forum makes some pretty nice leather straps for the T guys. Pretty sure he could take care of you. He is located in Flagstaff.

Thanks everyone for the info and suggestions. Sounds like buying the hardware and having them made or getting them at Restoration Supply is the way to go.

See if you still have a Tandy leather store close by or mail order.

Tried Classtique (I bought my top from them) but Mike said they don't supply the straps. He referred me to Snyder's but I had tried them along with several other Model A parts suppliers and they wre all "stock not available". Nearest Tandy is about 5 hours away but I will check their website. Thanks.
