Default Tillotson carb rebuild question

I bought a simple kit for this carb to rebuild. i took the carb apart after it was leaking badly. This is how i bought the car. It never ran for me.

I am done with the rebuild, but i have this one small gasket left over. Does it go in this jet that controls the throttle? The kit came with two of them, the other was installed in the bottom jet.

Thanks for the help

No, that does not go in the GAV.

Not sure about the Tillotson, but on a Zenith the height of the main jet and the float level are adjusted by different thicknesses and numbers of gaskets.

I believe that looks like the gasket for the jet that you access from the bottom of the carb. My tillitson kit had that gasket included, too. Problem is that it was too big in diameter to fit in the threaded hole for that jet. I used the original gasket. Most Tillitsons leak because the casting mating surfaces are not flat. On my Tillitson I made a gasket from gasoline- proof sealer to mismatch of the surfaces. The purists may not like that but it worked for me.

When my tilly leaked it was at the top gasket. I put in a new top gasket with a dab of black permatex. It has not leaked since

If warped mating surfaces, remove carb and flushout a blow out ALL gas. Baked mine in kitchen oven @ 250 degrees with "C" clamps. Check every 20 minutes and tighten clamps to true up the surfaces. Worked for me.

Well i rebuilt the carb and flattened out the mating surfaces, and after a few tries the engine started right up. Ran pretty good. Thanks for the help

Remember to leave it in the oven and let it cool "slowly"
