1929 closed cab pickup restoration
Not much out there on 1928/29 closed cabs ! Been working on a my truck for a few year's. Slow go. Right now looking for the right carriage bolts for the wood back rest supports to the back of the cab. And the visor mount bolts I have two metal backing plates in the door post where the visor mounts and the holes are threaded to 1/4, 20. ? The kits on Mac's and Mikes. Call for 10x32 ? Bolts /screws.

For the back rest bolts try Mack products at http://mack-products.com
They do a lot of truck parts. You might have to call them, I didn't see anything on their website. Charlie Stephens |

Re: 1929 closed cab pickup restoration
The original bolts for the seat back wood are a flattened head carriage bolt, as are many of the other bolts on the 82-A cab. The lower seat back wood is held in place by a slotted round head 1/4-20 screw. You will see both in the attached photo.
You will find some good info on the AA website by Neil Wilson regarding many things for the 82-A cab since this is the same cab used for both the pickup and the AA. Here's a post I found with a quick search for "visor." http://forums.aa-fords.com/viewtopic...t=visor#p32735 |

Quote:
Sunvisor-to-hinge-post - 1/4-20 slotted, oval head screws were used for 82-A cabs with the sunvisor mounted mirror bracket A-17737 d2. This was er/1928 - 3/1929. These cabs had a d3 hinge pillar. 10-32 slotted, oval head screws were used otherwise (so, 1927-er/1928 and er/1929-6/30). Bracket at https://aafords.com/aa-body-types/mirrors/#a17737d1-2 Hinge-pillar at https://aafords.com/aa-body-types/mirrors/#pib FYI - Tapping block is Ford's name for the metal backing plates you reference.

Re: 1929 closed cab pickup restoration
Thanks guys. It looks like mine is the early 28/29 mirror mount pillar block style. Why don't anyone offer the right kits for these trucks ? Yall seem to know what's going on ! Why don't the suppliers ?
