Default Clutch problem

Am getting ready to pull the engine from my 29 and removed the clutch inspection plate. Looked into the area and can see that at least one of the fingers is lower than others. The throwout bearing is in constant touch with the others causing it to turn all of the time when the engine is running. A new clutch complete is in order for sure. I go in for Provenge treatment Monday for prostate cancer so it will be a while before I complete this job. At least I have all winter to finish.

Good luck with the treatment for the cancer. Many men have that done with good results.

If the throwout bearing is in constant contact with the fingers, do you have 1-inch play in the clutch pedal before it starts to disengage the clutch? Also check to see if the clutch lever, the one with the pin, is not cracked. This was a design flaw. Check those things before you pull the engine.

It has more than one inch play. The clutch doesn't disengage until the pedal is almost on the floor, have to push hard before the trans will shift without grinding, even with double clutch.

Unless you know for sure you need anew clutch disc you can adjust the fingers in the car without removing engine or trans.

I am going to pull the engine anyway and have everything balanced. Vibrates very much at 40 MPH. RPM related not speed.

What you describe is a symptom of the clutch lever cracking. Look at the lever that is pinned to the shaft that goes into the clutch housing. See if it has a crack that opens up when you press on the clutch pedal.

I will do that right after I recover from the infusion. That is what I had thought it might be but have not checked it yet.
