Head Date Code
I took the head off my car and found it to be cracked. The head I purchased has a year date code of 28. The head on my 1930 does not have a year date code. Did Ford drop the year code on the heads in the later years?

Re: Head Date Code
Does it say other things ? It could be an aftermarket head.

Re: Head Date Code
Do you have a picture of the date code.
I would think that a date code on the head would be an important thing to look for when a car is being judged but I find no reference in the Guidelines about head date codes.

Re: Head Date Code
The only date code I have seen on a Model A Ford head was post production. As suggested a picture of the date code and the overall head would be useful.

Re: Head Date Code
Ford replacement head. The 28 is probably the mold number not the year.

Re: Head Date Code
Look under the waterpump mounting and see is there is a small raised cast diamond.
