Default Door Skin

Is Howells the only supplier of 30-31 full size coupe door skins? If anyone has used one supplied by Howells did it have the proper bead width at the bottom and was it contoured to fit? I know that most panels need some tweaking to fit but I don't have an English wheel and would like the panel to be fairly close out of the box. This is for the 30-31 full size skin that goes up to the beltline.

If you have used a skin from someone other than Howells I would appreciate your feedback and advice.

Howells is the only commercial supplier, ...and it won't be close out of the box. You will need to 'wheel it' to introduce crown in both directions, and likely need to re-tip the edge.

Thanks Brent, that presents a problem for me without an English wheel. Might be the excuse I need to buy 'another' tool.

As with any supplier you haven't dealt with before, check out Howells in the archives here and on HAMB.

I know that Bratton's has some of the old ones that were made by Engles A&T. They have been on the shelf for years.

Interesting Jeff as I did not realize Felix made ones for Coupes. Dale Atkins purchased all of Felix's dies & tooling, and just after the OP asked that, I had looked on their website and did not see Coupe skins listed, -just ones for a Tudor. Glad you can supply him one.

Thanks, I've sent Bratton's an email asking if they have any Engles A&T skins left. I will report back.

Tony, the owner of Brattons responded in post #8 saying he has some.

Thanks Brent I've been in contact with them also. I am posting their email response in case some one else may be in the market for a better door skin either now or in the future, at least until they run out of stock:

Good morning I have some that are made by both companies. When Engle's was running the businesses we bought a big stack of the coupe door skins. When the business was bought, I'm not sure what happened to the tooling, but the new company has not made them in 15 years. So if you order them specify you want the ones made by Engles. I think they are more expensive but I'd have to double check.
