Default Fenders again

I'm curious about the fit of the fenders for the 28/29 tudors, from the vendors? I've been quoted around $2K to straighten my fenders so they look decent. More if they have to take them off the vehicle and paint the underside. Seems a tad high, but then This is from just one source. I will try a couple of other shops, but it seems if the fit is acceptable then this may just save me a lot of time and running around. Either way I still have to get them painted. What are your thoughts? I am not capable anymore of doing decent body work. Father time is after me also so I'd like to drive the car some before the fairies come get me.
Thanks,

For a non show car and the fact that the 28-29's are closer to fitting OEM then the 30-31's, get the reproductions is my opinion.

I have a friend with a 28 coupe. He bought 4 decent original fenders for around $800 and like you, when he got the cost to make them nice, he decided to sell them and buy four new fenders. If I remember correctly, the front fenders fit pretty well, but that was about 6 years ago. The new front fenders looked pretty original, but there were some minor differences between them and original fenders. I believe there is only one maker of front fenders. Dies tend to wear out over time, but I suspect for the relatively small quantities they make, the dies are still OK.

I agree with the advice given above. Buy two new front fenders, get them painted, sell the originals to offset the cost of buying new and painting, and beat that $2,000 by half or more.

I have repro front fenders on my 29 Tudor (see pictures). They went on fine without any modifications needed. BTW the drivers side rear fender is NOS. If I can find a passenger side NOS rear fender then my tudor will have virgin metal on all four corners!

The repro fenders are not so bad. The repro spash aprons are the problem ! They are too small at the back end, so will not fit the fender. This goes for 28/29 repros.

There is a long wait time to get the fenders. I have seen 6 months backlog. You may want to check before making a decision. I believe Gaslight is the only manifacturer.
