1951 F2 Information

Hello everyone,


I just found out that I have a 1951 F2 I was told it was an F1 but after doing some research on her I found she wasn't and that she was an F2 so now I am in need of Running boards, 8'bed and tailgate and am not having any luck in researching the internet to locate them new or used so I came across this web site so I figured that Id register so that I can network and get information on where to find parts. I contacted Ford Motor Company but the site they sent me was for F1 parts not F2 I am located in California and the truck was Born in Long beach so she is a true California girl and I found old receipts dating back from the 50s up till 1975 that she was used as a metal hauler from Huntington beach to Riverside so I thought that was pretty cool of the previous owner to include kind of like a hidden time capsule.

Those are all tough items to find. I don't believe any of what you need is being reproduced yet. F-1's are much more desirable than a F-2 or F-3. The F-2 and F-3 are basically the same as for body parts. Front fenders are F-2 thru F-6. Good luck on finding what you need. Watch Ebay as stuff does appear there from time to time. Looks like you're in Southern Calif? Look in Arizona for junkyards, or out beyond Orange county. Desert area. up in the Wash-Oregon area. Good luck!

Yes, in fact I live in Riverside, I also know that here in Pomona CA there is a swap meet on April the 23 I'm already gearing up to go to it to see what I can find.

I'm over in Cucamonga...........
Not home right now, but the last time I hit the swap meet in Pomona there was a local seller there that had some F stuff. He by no means carted all his stuff there but he said he had more at home. I was not displeased as he had with him the hood latch panel I needed for my '48.
I'll dig up his biz card when I get back tomorrow night.

Hello,

As Barry points out, check Craigslist in AZ, Phoenix area. There are a couple of sellers that fave F2 to F6 parts including, cabs, doors, etc. Check Yuma area as well.

I looked for months for the same parts. I even posted want to buy on CL in many cities. That got me one NOS running board.

I saw a lot of the beds for sale in Ok, Neb, Col areas. I looked at 5 in Ok but only came back with a T98 trans.

Ultimately, I bought a 1948 F2 near by just to get the bed ,running boards, wheels, hub caps, rear shock mounts. Then I stuck my flat bed on it and sold it.

Keep looking and look hard. Be prepared to do some repairs to it. GOOD LUCK!

Re F2 or F3's; 6 or V8 by time your to even 50 MPH that old motor will be really turning over! Unless you have an updated rear end, they originally have a really a low ratio. Great for hauling or around town but not so much at highway or freeway speeds.

Oh man!!! that's totally awesome that's the main reason I want to put mine on the road I so want it to be my main transportation too she's awesome. Yeah I totally agree I took her around the block last night and sure enough she has a stock trans, driveshaft, and split case rear end the crappy part is that the previous owner removed 90% of the leaf springs to lower the truck so I currently only have 2 on each side of the front and 5 on each side of the rear so I will be upgrading that soon I just both all new tie rod ends tie rod tube draglink replacement kit and a bump steer kit that bolts to the axel and tie rod tube. I've got a way to go to bring her back to stock but that's my plan. right now she currently has a 350 chevy engine that with an adaptor to the stock trans so I'm looking for a 239 flathead that came with her stock at least they didn't chop the engine mounts they got an adaptor for that too but they did cut the front of the frame because I don't see holes to mount the stock bumper they made custom plates to fill in the bumper slots but that's easy to take off Oh and I just found out that that it appears that they cut from two different running boards to make one but made it like 2 1/2" too long so the gap between the cab and the truck is too wide which sucks. Ill add a pick of her she's a little rough but Ill bring her back to her glory days. I also think the seat is not correct because it seems too low but I'm not sure

Hi; My '48 F2 is an original stake bed model. There are some around in Oregon/Wash. I use a '72 and older 8 lug rear as the gears are much friendlier to modern driving. in '73 the trucks got a wider track. I have a rear fender extra., but it is 48-50. 51-52 have a smooth side bed, I believe. That tall side bed is the key find. Newc

Thank you Newc that explains why my bed is smooth on the side because all the pictures I've found so far the side bed panel looks different then mine. Do you know if the 51 -52 beds ever came with a top flat instead of a 45 degree angle?

The running boards are slightly different but not where you can see them. I have both types and they bolt on just fine.
