How To Remove An Amp Gauge
The amp gauge needs to be replaced in my "51 Ford Coupe. Is there an easy way to make that happen? Does the gauge cluster, when the proper nuts are removed, come out of the dash towards the steering column? If that's not possible, looks like the "difficult" enters the picture required removal from behind only. Suggestions appreciated. RWG

Roger, any chance of you posting a photo showing the under side of your dash
where the gauge is installed? What ever you do, be very sure to disconnect your battery when working on that gauge. |

Re: How To Remove An Amp Gauge
I wish I knew how to post pictures. Would have helped solve issues in the past. I'm unable to scrunch down under like I used to. My friend, who is not familiar with the car, did his best to look up under there said it appeared to him there may be "4 bolts spaced around the circumference" that when removed the unit may come out towards the steering wheel.

Chap,
Thanks, will give it a try. Might be a while, my friend and I are not as fast these days as we used to be. Will let your know the results.

The big round 1951 Ford cluster appears to only have one screw holding the amp gauge to the cluster body back shell. It also looks like there are three studs that hold the body to the face of the dash Last edited by rotorwrench; 05-14-2018 at 05:10 PM. |
