I don't know about the tool you have, but most old hub pullers worked on one type hub OR the other, but not both. I believe the hub with the protruding ring was used in 1928 and early 29 only. The later hubs had a groove on the hub.

Its bound to fit at least one. Literature on the reproduction tool (discontinued from most suppliers now) indicates that it is to be used on the "groove" version only.

So do the one, try for a grab on the other and if it won't go to AutoZone and "borrow" a hub puller.

I have the "bearing splitter" which CAN be used for this sort of work. And can be used on either version. These also available for borrow at AutoZone.

The protruding ring was 28 and if that's the case it will not work.
There's a flip top clam shell type that I ligt from industro of the era.
U don't like the ones that go on the studs as they can distort the hub and drum although you might not have any alternative .
The suppliers also sell a 28 cast puller which should work as well

Ill try and post some photos later

I have that one as well but it bolts to the studs just the same which isn't preferable.
It's nos and has never been used and I don't necessarily plan to either .

Thanks all, not what I wanted to hear but I will go to my local auto parts store and borrow the right tool. By the way, I know that there are different front hubs and the earlier one is more failure prone than the other (not counting the AR). Are the rear hubs equally safe?

Anyone have an extra box for the KR Wilson ABV-156 rear hub puller? Or can send me a few photos, I can probably make one if I know what the insides look like.
